Kenett Earns Academic All-District Honor

2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. --
Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer senior Ori Kenett has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for his combined efforts on the field and in the classroom.

Kenett, a senior from Hod Hasharon, Israel, has appeared in all 18 matches for Cal Poly Pomona this fall, seeing the sixth-most minutes on the team.  He has scored two goals and assisted on two others for the CCAA regular season champion Broncos, who will make their fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship Tournament tonight (Thursday) in Seattle, Wash.  In addition to his efforts on the field, Kenett also sports a 3.74 grade point average as a Business major.  He is also a two-time CCAA All-Academic honoree.

As a First Team selection, Kenett will advance to the Academic All-America ballot.  The Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.

To be nominated for such award, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form.  The student-athlete must have also completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.  Once a student-athlete is nominated by the Sports Information Director (SID) at his/her current institution, SID's from around the country vote on the All-District and All-America ballots.

CoSIDA began the distinguished Google Cloud Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.  The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.

For more information about CoSIDA's Google Cloud Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® Teams program, visit AcademicAllAmerica.com or the Academic All-America® home page on CoSIDA.com.

Cal Poly Pomona will face Fresno Pacific in the First Round of the 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship Tournament tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 pm in Seattle, Wash.  The winner will advance to the Second Round to be played Saturday against the No. 1 seed in the West Region, Simon Fraser, which has a bye in the First Round.  More information about this weekend's games can be found here.
