INDIANAPOLIS -- Cal Poly Pomona's Ayana Fields, and the 4x400 meter relay team of Jaelyn Thomas, Arissa Hatcher, Yuna Queniat, and Fields will head to Virginia Beach, Virginia to represent the Broncos at the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Fields returns to Nationals for the third time in her career as she qualified this season to compete in the 60 meter and the 200 meter as well as join the Broncos in the 4x400 meter relay. Earlier in the indoor season, Fields held the top spot nationally for four weeks in the 200 meter with a time of 23.47. In the 60 meter she ranked 17th nationally with a time of 7.50 that she sealed at the 2022 Spokane Invitational on Dec. 10th.
The Broncos sends the 4x400 meter relay team made up of Thomas, Hatcher, Queniat, and Fields. It was at the Minnesota State Massive Meet No. 2 on February 11th that the Broncos hit a time of 3:44.76 for a ninth-place national ranking, earning them a spot to compete at the NCAA Championships.
A total of 540 participants, 270 men and 270 women, will compete in the NCAA championships. The complete list of qualifiers is available here.
