RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The ninth-ranked Cal Poly Pomona baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Cal Baptist Saturday, moving the Broncos' overall record to 20-7.
Senior outfielders
Chris Carlson and
David Armendariz put on a showcase offensively in game two, collecting four RBI each. Carlson knocked two homeruns while Armendariz added a two-run shot of his own.
In the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper national rankings, CPP held the No. 9 spot while the Lancers were featured at No. 24. CBU's record now stands at 20-8.

Joseph Eusebio followed with a single up the middle and then a
Nick Cooksey hit brought in Carlson for the game's first run.
CPP righthander starter
Steven Farnworth ran into trouble in the second inning though as the Lancers rattled off four-consecutive singles, including two through the sides of the infield and two up the middle. CBU manufactured three runs in the frame to take a 3-1 edge.
The Lancers kept their advantage the rest of the way, despite CPP adding two runs in the late innings.
Jason Padlo knocked an RBI single in the sixth and Christian Kelly scored on a wild pitch in the seventh.

Bo Walter reached on a leadoff single and Armendariz followed with a two-run homer over the leftfield fence.
Sophomore lefthander
Max Bethell worked effectively in his eighth start of the year, going three innings and allowing just one hit while keeping the Lancers scoreless.
The Broncos' hit parade continued in the fourth, when Carlson launched a solo shot over the rightfield fence. Later in the inning, Padlo drove in Cooksey on an RBI single.
Austin Boyle picked up where Bethell left off as the CPP reliever tossed three scoreless innings to match Bethell's outing. The Broncos broke the game wide open with an eight-run fifth, which included a two-RBI single by
Mike Philp with the bases loaded.
Carlson added his second homer of the game in the top of the seventh, lining a 1-1 two-out pitch over the fence.
