FULLERTON, Calif. – With a series of strong performances across many different events, the Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field team competed Saturday at the Ben Brown Invite at Cal State Fullerton.
Lizette Huerta notched a "B" provisional mark in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the line in 17:20.78. That mark puts her at No. 4 all-time in program history. Following closely behind were teammates Ashli Baddorf and
Regina Lopez.
The CPP 4x100 relay placed second with a time of 47.54, which ranks fifth all-time. That group of sprinters, which included
Kendahl Gaines,
Mariah Richards-Maynard,
Isis Garland and
Araya Dixon, trailed host Cal State Fullerton by just 0.05 while the Broncos topped Division I Pepperdine.
Another Bronco landing in the program record book was
Frances Barnes, who registered a pole vault height of 10-11.75 to place third on Saturday. That mark ranks sixth in program history.
Makayla Jacoub also shined in that event, posting a mark of 11-1.75.
The top 10 marks continued in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, where
Chloe Reeves raced to a time of 12:02.10. That mark puts her at No. 8 all-time in the Broncos' record book.
CPP swept the shot put event, taking first, second and third.
Tiffany Gray led the way at 42-2.75 while
Tiffany Tate followed at 41-5.75 and
Nina Pritchett took third at 39-6.
The Broncos took second and third place in the javelin event. Tate recorded a "B" provisional distance of 132-5, narrowly missing her 132-11 mark from last week. Following in third was teammate
Erin Zwinger, who registered a 121-5 toss.
Sarah Regan placed second overall in the 400-meter dash at 59.41 as fellow CPP sprinter
Tai Crumsey followed in third at 61.25.
