Andrea Bosnic Signs With Bronco Volleyball

POMONA, Calif. -  After helping the Taft Toreadors to a 31-10-1 record in their 2014 season, Andrea Bosnic has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for Cal Poly Pomona in the upcoming 2015 season.

Broncos' head coach Rosie Wegrich announced the signing of Bosnic on Monday. Bosic graduated from Taft Charter High School in early June and guided the volleyball program to the first round of the C.I.F. California State Regionals while being named the LA City Player of the Year.

"Andrea is a six-rotation player at the club level," said Wegrich. "I expect her to be extremely helpful as an outside hitter with her power and serve receiving skills. She is self described as a highly competitive player so we look forward to having her at Cal Poly Pomona."

A native of Los Angeles, the 5-foot-11 outside hitter is the daughter of Wesley and Mirjana Bosnic. Her father Wesley attended the University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and her mother Mirjana went to the University of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Bosnic has a brother named Igor.

Bosnic has had numerous accolades both on and off the volleyball court, aside from the aforementioned LA City Player of the Year. She was also named an LA City Champion in both 2013 and 2014. She earned honors as an LA City Section All-City Award winner from 2012-14 as well as an LA City West Valley All-League recipient in the same time. She was also given an All-Area Girls Volleyball Award in 2014.

Off the court she was given an Academic Athlete Award in 2014. Her biggest game in 2014 came as she posted a record-breaking 43 kills in Taft's rivalry matchup win against Granada Hills.

She plans to major in Business Administration with a minor in Political Science. She aspires to become either a civil rights lawyer or a journalist that travels to third-world countries to bring awareness to global issues.

Cal Poly Pomona volleyball finished the 2014 season with an overall tally of 15-10, including a 13-9 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
