LOS ANGELES – After helping lead the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer program through its most successful season ever,
Eshel Chardon has been picked as a member of The Jewish Sports Review 2015 Men's College All-America Soccer Team.
The Broncos finished the season as the NCAA Division II National Runner-Up after reaching the NCAA Soccer Championship game in early December. The team tied its program record of 17 wins as they amassed a 17-3-3 overall record, complete with an 8-2-2 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play.
Looking at the 2015 season, CPP men's soccer had a number of firsts. The 1-0 victory in the second round of the NCAA tournament marked the program's first ever NCAA postseason win. The squad went on to capture three more victories as they topped No. 23 Cal State Dominguez Hills, No. 8 Colorado School of Mines, and finally No. 5 Rockhurst en route to the National Championship matchup against No. 1 Pfeiffer.
Despite the Pfeiffer team taking the national title, the Broncos locked down second place nationally and secured its first-ever West Region title.
Chardon, a junior from Rosh Haain, Israel, was a consistent starter for the Broncos. He made starts in 21 of CPP's 23 games and made an appearance in 22. He was third on squad in total minutes played with 1,850. As a midfielder he made his mark scoring one goal and tallying four assists for a total of six points.
With second-team honors, Chardon was named a member of the All-CCAA team announced at the conference banquet in November just prior to the team securing its second-consecutive CCAA Tournament title.
Chardon will be entering his senior collegiate season in 2016.
