CCAA Championships Results

Four Broncos earned All-CCAA honors with that group including
Mark Huizar and
Christian Rodriguez on the men's side along with
Calene Morris and
Lorraine Fernandez on the women's side.
Broncos' Hall of Fame members Jim Sackett and Tony Reyes served as the meet starters. The Cal Poly Pomona Color Guard and the Bronco Pep Band participated in the pre-race festivities while the Cheer Squad and Broncettes also attended along with many CPP cross country and track and field alumni.
The Broncos' cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 5, for the NCAA Division II West Region Championships in Billings, Mont.
Women's 6,000-Meter Race
As a team, the Broncos totaled 76 points to only trail Chico State. Morris crossed the line in 22:10.9 to finish 11th individually. She raced alongside Fernandez most of the way and Fernandez finished with a 22:17.1 mark to place 14th.
Freshman
Brittani Matthews put together an impressive performance, earning a 22nd-place finish with a time of 22:36.0. A split second behind her was
Symone Booker, who posted a mark of 22:36.2. Rounding out the top five was
Casey Monoszlay with a time of 22:38.6.
Cal State San Bernardino's Laura Aceves won the individual crown with a mark of 21:03.3.
Men's 8,000-Meter Race
The top five Broncos finished within the top 21 spots individually as the team finished with 67 points, just ahead of third-place UC San Diego. Chico State captured the CCAA crown with 20 points.
Rodriguez took 10th at 24:51.8 while Huizar followed a split second behind at 24:51.9. Junior
Ruben Dominguez proved to be the Broncos' third-best finisher, crossing the line in 25:14.8.
Grant Stromberg and
Brandon Ferguson raced well together, capturing the No. 19 and No. 21 spots with respective marks of 25:24.9 and 25:27.2.
Taking the top individual spot was the Wildcats' William Reyes as he posted a time of 24:18.1.
