POMONA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field team competed at two meets over the weekend. Three members of the CPP squad participated in The Legends Distance Carnival. The Broncos also competed in the California Collegiate Invitational hosted by UC San Diego.
 
At UCLA, Lizette Huerta finished at No. 10 in the 1,500 meter run, crossing the line with a time of 4:42.19. In the 5,000 meter race, Marissa Nickles turned in a time of 17:29.27 for a ninth place finish, a number that lands her at No. 8 on the all-time record books for CPP in the 5,000. In another heat of the 5,000 meter race, Ashli Baddorf finished ninth.
 
In the meet hosted by UCSD, Symone Booker finished at No. 20 in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:50.69. Araceli Servin finished just a couple spots behind her at No. 22. Also competing in the event were Casey Monoszlay, Layla Amiri, Xochitl Robles, and Taylor Otto.
 
The Broncos also competed in the 800 meter run. Danielle Foxvog led the way for the Green and Gold with a finish at 2:20.78. Also running in the event was Booker.
 
There were eight Broncos that competed in the 5,000 meter run. Leading the way was Calene Morris with a sixth place finishing 18:22.88 time. Elizabeth Olvera was just behind her in seventh place. Anahi Betart, Nichelle Jackson, Geanna Gallegos, Sydney Vollhardt, Amberlyn Sierra, and Leslie Perez Cazarez also ran in the 5,000 meter race.
 
In the women's hammer throw, Nina Pritchett guided the Green and Gold with a distance of 38.26 meters. Pritchett also led the Broncos in the shotput with a 11.80 meter toss. In the discus, Pritchett finished tenth.
 
Frances Barnes competed in the pole vault for the Broncos, clearing a height of 3.10 meters and finishing at No. 12.
 
The Broncos will return to action on April 9 as they compete in the Pomona-Pitzer Invite.
