LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's track and field team competed at the Triton Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The meet was hosted by the Broncos' California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) rivals, the UC San Diego Tritons.
In the 1500 meter race, CPP was lead by senior
Lizette Huerta. The Ontario, Calif. native recorded a provisional qualifying time of 4:32.86 in the event and recorded an overall fourth place finish.
Calene Morris clocked in just second behind Huerta with a time of 4:40.27, earning her a finish at No. 10.
Casey Monoszlay,
Symone Booker,
Lorraine Fernandez, and
Anahi Betart also competed in the 1500 meter race.
In the 800 meter run,
Danielle Foxvog,
Olivia Lowe, and
Kalin Tomlinson rounded out the Bronco trio. Foxvog finished with a time of 2:20.58 and led the CPP squad.
The Bronco 4x400 meter relay team finished seventh in the event, posting a time of 4:00.21. In the 4x100 meter race, CPP's team turned in a 48.41 to clock in at eighth.
Finishing first among collegiate racers and second overall only to a competitor from Nike,
Marissa Nickles secured a 17:34.00 time. CPP was well represented in the race as
Elizabeth Olvera and Booker finished at No. 5 and 6, respectively.
Ashli Baddorf tallied a finish at No. 11 with a time of 18:31.38 and
Geanna Gallegos was just three spots behind her. Closing out the CPP racers was
Leslie Perez Cazarez.
Nina Pritchett, as the one Bronco competitor, threw for 39.90 meters in the hammer throw.
Tiffany Tate came in at seventh in the javelin with a throw of 42.49 meters.
Tate also threw in the shot put, throwing for a distance of 13.30 meters. Pritchett finished her throw with a distance of 11.97 meters.
In the discus, Pritchett reached a distance of 43.36 meters thrown, a season best.
Hannah Stueve vaulted to a height of 3.20 meters on Friday, and
Frances Barnes came in three spots behind her with the same height.
