POMONA – The United Soccer Coaches released their 2017 NCAA Division II Men's All-West Region Teams, featuring a total of four Cal Poly Pomona players among the teams.
Sergi Monso and
Nadeer Ghantous were both named to the First-Team for the second consecutive year. Monso led the Broncos offense all season, ranking third in Division II with 21 total goals this season.
Ghantous was key in the backline for the Broncos who held one of the top defense in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Another top scorer for the Broncos was
Luis Najera Jr., who was given Second-Team honors after scoring nine goals, adding two assists on the year. His 20 points are the tied for the second most of the squad.
Rounding out the award winners for the Broncos was
Jimmie Villalobos who was named to the Third-Team after a successful first season with CPP. Villalobos tallied eight goals this season including the opening goal of the NCAA tournament.
The Broncos season continues tomorrow as they face off against third-ranked University of Charleston in the semifinal round of the NCAA Championship.
