Ghantous Earns Third-Career All-America Honor

United Soccer Coaches All-America Team  |  D2 CCA All-America Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo --
Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer senior defender Nadeer Ghantous has been named to the NCAA Division II All-America Third Team for both the United Soccer Coaches organization and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) awards program, it was announced on Wednesday.

Ghantous, from Hifa, Israel, becomes the first men's soccer student-athlete at Cal Poly Pomona to earn the All-America distinction three times in a career.  He was a Second Team All-American in 2016 by the United Soccer Coaches, then a Third Team All-American in 2017 by the D2 CCA program.  This is the first year he has been honored by both All-America programs.

A four-time All-CCAA honoree, Ghantous has appeared in all 23 games this season for the Broncos, logging the most minutes of any field player for CPP (2,011).  He has scored two goals in 2018 while anchoring a defense that has posted a 1.02 goals against average and 10 shutouts, five of which have come in the last six contests, all playoff matches.

The United Soccer Coaches All-Region and All-America teams are voted on by head coaches in Division II.  Sports Information Directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men's soccer selected the D2 CCA All-America Team.
