HAYWARD, Calif. - The 10th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona baseball team split a doubleheader at Cal State East Bay Saturday as the Broncos will now go into the weekend finale Sunday with a 2-1 deficit in the series.

Broncos Split Saturday Doubleheader at East Bay

HAYWARD, Calif. - The 10th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona baseball team split a doubleheader at Cal State East Bay Saturday as the Broncos will now go into the weekend finale Sunday with a 2-1 deficit in the series.

CPP now stands at 18-6 overall and 12-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) while the Pioneers' marks settle at 14-10 overall and 8-7 in conference play.

The Broncos collected 13 hits in the first game as they secured a 7-2 victory. Chris Carlson and Joseph Eusebio knocked homeruns to lead the CPP offense in the win.

The visiting Broncos were stifled in the second game though as CSUEB starter Ben O'Bryan tossed a seven-inning complete-game performance in the 5-2 Pioneers' victory.

CPP got tremendous pitching and steady offense throughout game one of Saturday's doubleheader. Steven Farnworth earned his third win of 2014 as he tossed 6.2 innings and allowed just one run. He was followed by stellar relief performances from Austin Boyle and J.J. Franklin.
