Arguably the greatest player in Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball history, Jeff Bonds helped the Broncos advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight on two different occasions.

"When I received the call about being inducted into Cal Poly Pomona's Hall of Fame," Bonds said. "I was speechless. It's such a humbling experience and I'm extremely grateful."

Bonds' time as a Bronco earned him a number of honors, the highest of which was an All-American nod after his stellar performance in the 2004-05 season.

After graduating from Mayfair High School, Bonds arrived at CPP in 2000 and began pursuing his degree in marketing.

"After being recruited by the previous head coach Tim Rapp," said Bonds. "I arrived to campus with Coach Greg Kamansky taking over the program. Greg instilled a lot of confidence in me as a freshman and that helped me develop throughout my time as a Bronco."

During Bonds' freshman season in 2001-02, the Broncos went 18-9. As a sophomore in 2002-03, the squad went 23-8. In his junior campaign, CPP posted a 21-7 record, and during Bonds' final season with the Broncos, the team posted a 24-7 overall mark.

"My time at Cal Poly Pomona was all about growth," Bonds said. "It wasn't just from an athletic standpoint either. I developed amazing relationships with my teammates along with people outside of athletics."

In both 2003 and 2005, Bonds helped guide the team to West Region titles with an overall 6-2 showing against teams in the NCAA Division II tournament. Kamansky's tenure includes four Elite Eight appearances with Bonds playing a key role in two of those appearances.

"In thinking about my most memorable games at Cal Poly Pomona, two come to mind," Bonds said. "The first was in Hawaii when we beat Cal State San Bernardino in double overtime after being down by 19 at two different points in the game. The second was at Sonoma State on their Senior Night. We needed to win to stay in playoff contention and that ended up being my first game winner."

Upon looking at the men's basketball record books, one will see Bonds' name a number of times. He ranks first for the program in career points with 1,777, first in field goals made at 584, and first in free throws made with 525.

With offensive talent an obvious part of his game, Bonds also stood out on defense. He ranks fifth all-time with 685 rebounds, fourth with 149 steals, and third in assists with 79. His success on the court led to plenty of lengthy seasons as he sits at third all-time with 117 games played.

After his time with the Broncos, Bonds signed a professional contract with the Birmingham Bullets, a professional team from England. He averaged 17 points and 6.7 rebounds per game during his first season abroad. Bonds moved to the Sheffield Sharks and later spent time with six teams from professional leagues around Europe, making an impact in Spain, Germany and Austria. During his final season in Oberwart, Austria, Bonds averaged 15 points and six rebounds per contest.
