An eight-time All-American, Tabreshia C. Lawrence-McIntyre certainly established herself as one of the top track and field student-athletes in the history of Cal Poly Pomona.
"I'm very excited and thankful for the opportunity to be in the new class of inductees," McIntyre said in an interview this week.
In talking about her time as a Bronco, she said: "The teams I competed on at Cal Poly Pomona are all very special to me and Coach [Jim] Sackett is so great at bringing people together while encouraging students to not only work hard for themselves but also for their teammates."
Having captured an individual 1998 NCAA Division II National Championship with a school-record time of 58.95 in 400-meter hurdles, McIntyre became the Broncos' sixth female to capture a track and field national title.
She still holds that school record of 58.95 while also being part of the record-holding 4x100 and 4x200 relays at 46.75 and 1:38.87 respectively.
During McIntyre's sophomore and junior seasons - 1997 and 1998 - she guided the CPP women's track and field squad to California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship titles, the first in program history.
As a freshman in 1996, McIntyre ran the second leg of the 4x100 relay team that finished eighth in the nation, good for her first All-America award.
In 1997, McIntyre received All-America honors in three different events: 200-meter, 400-meter and 4x100 relay. At the national meet in Edwardsville, Ill., she placed fifth in the 200 at 24.44 and eighth in the 400 at 56.17. McIntyre combined with Jocalyn Pruitt, Dominique Hughes and Ruth Moecks in the 4x100 relay to finish fifth overall at 47.07.
Also in 1997, she was named one of three CCAA Women's Athletes of the Meet at the conference championships held at Mt. SAC. At that competition, she won the 100 and 400 hurdles while placing second in the 200 and fourth in the 400. She also ran the first leg of the CCAA Champion 4x100 relay team.
McIntyre returned to Edwardsville, Ill., for the 1998 NCAA D-II National Championships, where she helped the Broncos place seventh nationally - the best finish in program history. In that title-winning 400-meter hurdles race, she easily outdistanced the second-place runner by 1.25 seconds. She also earned All-America honors in the 100 hurdles, placing sixth overall with a time of 14.41.
The 1998 CCAA Championships at Cal State L.A. once again featured a Bronco sweep for both the men and the women but that year, CPP's title hopes came down to the final event: the 4x400 relay. The Bronco women had only raced in one 4x400 relay all season before the showdown at the conference championship.
With only a five-point lead heading into the final event, CPP needed to finish ahead of Cal State L.A. in the race to secure first place. McIntyre, Pruitt, Moecks and Arrica Sanchez didn't leave anything in doubt and won the race in 3:57.60.
McIntyre continued her track dominance in 1999 as well. During her senior season, she collected All-American honors No. 7 and No. 8 with top performances in the 100-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash.
Through her childhood, McIntyre called Rialto home. A graduate of Rialto High School, she went on to study Hospitality Management at Cal Poly Pomona.
